Exercise and your immune system

ACSM and CDC recommendations for minimum exercise:

  • Moderate intensity aerobic exercise 30 minutes 5 days per week or

  • ·Vigorous intensity aerobic activity for 20 minutes 3 days per week

  • Strength and endurance 2 days per week


The immune system is activated when following the minimum recommendation for exercise. Regular exercise improves immune responses to vaccinations, reduce chronic inflammation, and improve various cancers, HIV, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cognitive impairment.
